Every year Livorno remembers the great contribution made by the city to the Italian Risorgimento, with the heroic resistance of 10 and 11 May 1849 to the siege of the Austrian troops. Promoted by the Livornese Committee for the promotion of Risorgimento values, a calendar of initiatives is proposed to the citizens thanks to the collaboration of institutions, associations and administrations of the provincial territory, including the Municipality of Livorno. In addition to the official commemoration celebrations, historical reconstruction shows, costume parades, rock concerts, guided visits to our nineteenth-century beauties, choral and “Garibaldi” buffets and, at the end, the grand Risorgimento ball on the picturesque Mascagni Terrace are planned.
